Track B: 2 sessions
- Morning: 8:30am-12pm US National Grid & Emergency Response. Learn about the USNG, uses, mobile and open source GIS applications and a field exercise. Taught by NASA staff: Al Studt. ELM Program Administrator, Kennedy Space Center. Need a phone/tablet and will require walking/fieldwork.
- Afternoon: 1pm-4:30pm. LiDAR. Basics of Lidar and information regarding the USNG Georgia 3DEP LiDAR acquisition. Data types & Deliverables. Taught by staff from Atlantic Tech and Georgia Mountain Regional Commission.
Tuesday Aug 20th: Can pick and choose any sessions. Lunch is included.
Morning sessions 8:30am-12pm –
- 3D solutions and tools in the ArcGIS Platform. Learn about new analysis options and features in various ESRI software platforms. Geoff Taylor, from ESRI. Laptops not required… however you are welcome to bring them!
- Drones & GPS: Learn about advances in technology with Drones and GPS and how it helps to complete surveying or mapping projects in a fraction of time. Ross Kenney from NEI and Matt Rosenbalm from Microdrones
Afternoon 1-4pm:
- Census 2020 Program. Learn about requirements, local committees, new data types collected and what can be done with it in GIS. Presented by staff from the US Census Bureau Education & GIS team
- GIS Leadership and Management:- Jennifer Lana: Cobb County. Focus is on effective GIS management (big ideas vs. little, setting priorities, etc..) and GIS data management (data dictionaries, assign custodians, manage content in AGO).- Ekaterina Fitos & Chris Friel (Michael Baker Intl): Data Management and Addressing. With topics that will also cover the NG911 requirements for Public Safety.
