The function of the Gwinnett County Department of Planning and Development is to promote and enhance the quality of life of residents, visitors, property owners, and businesses o Gwinnett County.  The Department accomplishes its mission through programs and services that encourage high quality development as well as maintenance and revitalization of existing neighborhoods.  The Department consists of the Administration Division, the Strategic Infrastructure Planning Division, the Economic Development and Planning Division, and the Development Division.

The GIS Associate III position is assigned to the Planning Data Services section within the Economic Development and Planning Division.  The position will be responsible for lead work in managing Geographical Information Systems, maintaining Planning and Development’s website, creation of detailed cartographic products, performing data administration and analysis, establishing and maintaining test environments, and serving as a back-up to the Section Manager.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s Degree in a related field.
Three years of progressively responsible, professional level GIS experience.
Or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job as listed above.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
Certified GIS Professional (GISP) preferred.
Census Data experience preferred.
