“Mapping Atlanta for Urban Advocacy”
— Darin Givens —

During this talk we will look at the way that mapping tools and published, mapped data can serve the needs of an advocate for good urbanism. Maps of demographic data, population density, transit access and even parcel ownership all help to tell a story about the relationship between Atlanta’s culture and its geography. Analyzing related maps and finding connections has provided rich source material.

Darin Givens is an Atlanta writer and web professional who spent five years taking a deep dive into the subject of urbanism in Atlanta, researching and writing about the built environment of the city on the blog ATL Urbanist. His work has been published in several outlets including Atlanta Magazine and Creative Loafing, and he has been featured on local radio and television talking about the way the shape of the city affects us all.
