The Coastal Regional Commission of Georgia is seeking to fill the position of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Analyst. The GIS Analyst position is responsible for meeting the daily information technology requirements of the Coastal Regional Commission and assisting member local governments and partner agencies with service requests of a technical nature. These duties typically include the application of GIS technology, website and/or web application design and support, network administration, and general systems maintenance. The GIS Analyst works under the direct supervision of the GIS Manager
Qualified applicants should, at a minimum, possess an undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university as well as have previous experience in relevant information technology fields; or five to seven years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. This position requires advanced computer application skills.

Under limited supervision, working both independently and as part of a team, this position will support the coordination, development and management of land and species management geospatial databases. The incumbent will coordinate statewide data collection, bridge data and information gaps, develop informative GIS products, and evaluate and support administrative requirements for annual reporting. This position will also coordinate the collection and management of geospatial data to include annual population surveys, wildlife management area (WMA) habitat projects, WMA operation and maintenance activities, shooting ranges, timber management activities, hunting maps, and all spatial data needed for federal grant proposals and performance reports.
Bachelor’s degree in geography, cartography, geology, forestry or a closely related field from an accredited college or university
One year of experience in the area of assignment.
One year of experience required at the lower level GIS Specialist 2 (LSP061) or position equivalent.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Preference may be given to applicants with:
- Experience with Geographic Information System applications, tools, and resources, including familiarity with both raster and vector resources, geodatabases, cartographic principles and common software tools
- Experience with relational, multi-user spatial database design, development and management; including the integration of existing databases (spatial and non-spatial)
- Experience with collection, analysis and dissemination of geospatial and related data/information
- Experience with wildlife management or biological sciences databases or geospatial projects

Job Summary: Under the direction of the Chief Appraiser or designee, supervises, oversees, and directs the operations and administrative staff of the GIS Division for the Chatham County Board of Assessors, including administrative support, human resources management, and active participation in the work product of the division. Plans, organizes, and supervises the workload of assigned staff. Responsible for overseeing the locating, identifying, and maintaining the accuracy of all property parcels in Chatham County using ESRI ArcGIS software. Responsible for quality control of Chatham County’s cadastral data using ArcGIS. Manages, oversees, and reviews the entry of data in related databases and department file systems and makes corrections when needed. Responds to complaints and complex questions; researches problems and initiates problem resolution. Drafts polices and makes recommendations. Maintains strong and active participation and relationships with supervisors, subordinates, and the public. Represents the Board of Assessors and its interests in meetings with other departments. Performs directly related work as required under the provisions of O.C.G.A. Title 48 Chapter 5, Department of Revenue Substantive Rules and Regulations.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Geography, or GIS related field, supplemented by four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in GIS or closely related field, and some senior-level mapping work and/or senior-level appraisal work and/or senior-level administrative experience; or seven (7) years of an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience in a closely-related field. Must be able to supervise, train, and evaluate subordinates; must be able to conduct work-related research using a personal computer and present research and data in a variety of formats including but not limited to carto visualization, reports, presentations, and specialized assessment notices. Must be able to work under time sensitive deadlines. Must be able to lift/move 20-25 lbs. Must be able to utilize computer software and systems applicable to the area of assignment, including but not limited to CAMA (Computer Assisted Mass Appraisal), Microsoft Office Suite, and GIS software.
