2012 Georgia URISA Board of Directors Election

All Georgia URISA members are eligible to be placed into nomination for the fall elections to fill vacancies on our 2012 Governing Board. If you have a desire to become a recognized leader in the GIS community in Georgia, please consider this opportunity. Service on the Georgia URISA Board is a great way to improve your leadership skills, strengthen your professional network, and gain recognition for your professional accomplishments.

We are seeking nominees for 2 open positions, Secretary and Education Chair. Members with skills, experience, or interest in a particular position are encouraged to throw their hat in the ring. Please include a 1-paragraph bio with your nomination. All nominees will be placed on a ballot to be voted upon by our general membership. Send your nomination to Rosemary Harman, our Immediate Past President, at ipp@gaurisa.org by December 15th. Job descriptions follow below:.

Secretary:

• Document discussions at Board Meetings
  • Post minutes to website within two weeks of meeting.
• Assist Webmaster with website and social networking sites maintenance.
• Assist Webmaster with text for announcements and special events.
• Attend Luncheons
  • Print list of RSVP’s
  • Add walk-ins to list
  • Assist Treasurer in checking members in and tabulating event
• Attend Board meetings
• Attend other GA URISA activities

Education Chair:

• Maintain relationship with Gainesville College Geospatial Alliance, formally affiliated with GA URISA.
• Work toward establishing stronger relationships with other schools offering geospatial curriculums such as Kennesaw State, Georgia State University, Georgia Tech, UGA, etc...
• Promote the GA URISA Student Award with colleges, universities, tech schools, and k-12.
• Assist Special Events Chair with low cost workshops.
• Assist Sub-Chapter Relations Chair with workshops and outreach to schools.
• Assist the Conference & Workshop Chair with developing topics and coordinating training workshops for our biennial workshops and conferences.
• Attend luncheons.
• Attend Board meetings.
• Attend other GA URISA activities.
